ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT will open a new art gallery in Rochester’s Sibley building later this year. The RIT City Art Space will feature exhibits from students, faculty and alumni along with educational opportunities for the community.

"For us, it's about a lot more visibility and connecting to the community,” said John Aasp, Gallery Director for the RIT College of Art and Design.

RIT moved its campus from downtown Rochester to Henrietta in 1968. Its return to the area comes during a revitalization of that area.

RIT’s R Gallery on College Avenue will transition to the new space. The Sibley building space is slated to open later this year.

"The bottom line is, if you come to the RIT City Art Space, you are going to experience creativity, art and design that's very unique to RIT's combination of art and technology,” said Aasp.
