New affordable senior housing unveiled at former Sibley department store

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - New apartments in the old Sibley's department store in downtown Rochester were unveiled on Monday.

More than 70 apartments are part of "Landmark at Sibley Square. They are at affordable prices for senior citizens. There is also a fitness center, game room, and lounge.

The state invested $28 million into the new apartments. Work will continue to bring more businesses and retail into the Sibley Building.

We spoke with one resident about what he likes the most.

"We all get together, we watch TV, we talk," explains Timothy Fowler. "And we talk about situations that are affecting the community, in our community room. So that was one of the things I was attracted to."
