Liberty Lofts is set to be the newest residential community at Sibley Square when it opens at the end of March, according to Sibley Square General Manager Brad Flower.

The residential community will hold 104 apartments with a variety of layouts, which will priced according to income, meaning there’s a place to live for everyone.

"The focus here is that it's specifically geared towards workforce households," said Flower. "It brings us up to a total of nine different ways to qualify to live in this building, ranging anywhere from $24,000 dollars a year in annual salary up to no limit.”

In addition to the Liberty Lofts, the Mercantile on Main is under construction at Sibley Square. The commercial space will feature a variety of restaurants with different food options set to open near Labor Day.

"These are meals for about $10 in about 10 minutes, making up all different sorts of fair, not really franchises of other concepts, but local operators serving local foods," said Ken Greene, the co-founder of the Mercantile on Main.

The goal of both projects at Sibley Square is to break down barriers, so people of all walks of life can afford to both live and eat downtown.

"If you live downtown, you can meet with your neighbors. If you work downtown, maybe you'll stay downtown longer, but it's to bring back to Sibley Square what Sibley's, the department store used to be and that's a community gathering spot," said Greene.
