Sibley Square displays bring back memories of holidays past

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - It is beginning to feel - and look - a lot like Christmas in downtown Rochester.

That is especially true at Sibley Square.

This year's window display is reminiscent of decades past in downtown Rochester. If you remember the window displays of years past at the Sibley Building, you will like this one for 2017.

Inside the lobby, you will find the iconic block decorated - and even an 18-foot-tall Christmas tree.

The display is a nod to the days when the once-premier department store went all out to celebrate the season.

"I grew up in Rochester," said Sibley Square Regional Manager Frank Freida. "I mean, my grandparents brought me down here every Sunday. And to be able to help preserve that is really exciting."

"Sibley's was a big part of the downtown area and we want it to continue to be a big part of the downtown area as we keep renovating the 1.1 million square feet of the building," Freida added.

Part of those renovations include the sixth floor, where High Tech Rochester - a start-up incubator - will move in next month.

13WHAM's Ashley Doerzbacher spent Monday morning touring Sibley Square's holiday displays and decorations. You can see that here.
